Client: BBC
Brief: To design and build an exhibition for BBC FutureWorld to showcase both the Walking with Dinosaurs and Gormenghast series. eMoot were also commissioned to produce FutureWorld Challenge.
The Project: Using props from both series, and collaborating with the two producers and other members of the production teams, eMoot designed and developed a highly technical and creative exhibition. It incorporated a specially-written 15-minute double-widescreen (32x9) film presented and narrated by Stephen Fry. This included computer-controlled lighting effects, relating scenes in the film with items in the exhibition. It also featured 5-way surround-sound and an automated live example of Colour Separation Overlay.
The exhibition itself included the "Dino-Scare" feature where a live
camera, pressure pads, screens and sound effects gave the impression of a dinosaur roaring over your shoulder.
Other features included plasma screens embedded into rocks, an Indian timber, glass-windowed wall housing some of the
costumes and models from Gormenghast and surround-sound atmospheric sound-effects.
