Brief: To create a popular tourist attraction utilising the work and resources of the Museum of London's archaeological team. Providing an accurate record of their findings and explain the techniques used by them
The Project:
The attraction, a winner of a Museum of the Year award, deals with the subject of London's waterfront
archaeology. It contained two museum galleries with artefacts from the museum collections, including specially
conserved sections of Roman and Saxon timber revetments, and sections of a Roman ship excavated front the
Thames waterside. Providing a context for the archaeologists work, visitors were transported through a
series of reconstructed scenes.


Key Project Features:
Sophisticated visitor handling including glass lift taking visitor down through the archaeological layers of London's history.
Visitor transport system developed to incorporate personal commentary and ambient sound and linked to the activation of animatronics, lighting and wide range of theatrical effects.
State of the art environmental controls to ensure the conservation of the exhibits.
